Adobe Photoshop. 50 minutes. Technically quite a bit longer, but experienced a technical glitch while working on it, and had to spend a good 10-15 minutes fixing a pretty bad problem. If you watch the timelapse video, there's a fairly obvious time skip at 3:20 where an unrendered log on the ground suddenly becomes half-rendered. There was a layer sorting issue caused by some very careless keyboard strokes. I should just stick to doing these in single layer for posterity, but part of practice is learning to use the tools you have at your disposal, not limiting yourself on principle to fulfill some arbitrary "purity" requirement for painting. I don't do these challenges just to learn to paint like Bob Ross. I also want to learn new skills to use in future projects, skills requiring the usage of powerful tools that traditional painters do not have, but will bolster me to new levels of productivity and quality. But, like most challenges, it's a learning experience. And it wouldn't be a very good learning experience if I didn't make some pretty gnarly mistakes along the way. Speed is key in these challenges. But learning is paramount.
