Which ComicCon Are we talking about? Do you mean the former Chicago ComicCon, (Now called Wizard World Chicago)?
If that is the case, I'd vote ComciCon/Wizard world, I'll be there in the Artist Alley promoting my first comic book "Full Circle" that is supposed to be premiering at Wizard World Chicago this year. ("Supposed to be" because we aren't sure it will be ready, bur my editor says it will be)
Oh wait, your not talking about Chicago... your talking about Wonder Con in Sand Diego aren't you? Which is in July and AnimeExpo in LA which is in July also.
What, you can't afford both?
Well you SHOULD come to Wizard World Chicago in June (June 26-29).
I work for the Comic Con and recommend you go to Anime Expo. Comic Con tends to overcrowded, there are a lot of complainy people, bigger exhibitors get more attention then smaller exhibitors, and Comic Con can be frustrating in general.
On side note, I've never been to ComiCon, but if you compare the comic guy stereotype with the otaku stereotype... you gotta think of it this way:
Who would you rather surround yourself with?
That ugly-ish happy-go-lucky psuedo-psychotic glomp-machine fangirl in costume?
Or that fat walking comic encyclopedia guy who is anti-social among usual people but turns into a total self-righteous, know-it-all douchebag when surrounded by people of his own kind? The guy who will get into an hour-long debate over which superhero would win in a fight against another superhero when all you did was ask for the time?

Them is fightin' words kiddo.
You should hang out at the small press booths at ComiCon. You can actually meet the people who write and illustrate their own comics, and they're ALWAYS pleased to have people take a seat and shoot the breeze with them.
I imagine. There are cool, friendly people at cons of whatever sort, that's a given. And I certainly wouldn't go anywhere near as far as to say all con attendees will fit the given stereotypes. But anime cons will attract anime geeks and comic cons will attract comic geeks, plenty of them fitting awful awful stereotypes. They're just going to be there, all I'm saying.
I went to Anime Expo 07. All the way from Colorado. All I can say is, it was really fun, and I wish I got more involved that I did (I actually more or less just hung around the huge merchandise area).
never been to either, that sort of thing noone pays any attention to them here in europe, its fuckin shite, if I wanna go to a con I gotta do a 5-15 hour drive minimum to get to London, since after all London is the dead center of the UK, I dont fucking think so!!!
