Earlier this week, I posted a journal requesting
a bit of generosity from you folks.
Bunni, one of our resident artists
and all round great person,
broke one of her hard drives.
With it went all the pictures of
her older work, her current projects...
...And the vast majority of photos of
her daughter, Lily, during her first years.
We accumulated the funds, sent
a nice care package her way, and in
return, she cranked out quite a lot of
art to her benefactors!
Win/win, already.
Suffice to say, the hard disk recovery
was a success.
She got her pictures back.
Even more win.
But the greatest triumph of all came while
going through the raw files, ensuring all
was salvaged...
...A gem.
A beautiful, sentimental gem.
One she knew existed somewhere.
Found.
There were a few pictures of her grandmother,
just randomly appearing in there.
They were taken while she was holding
Bunni's daughter, Lily...
...Shortly before she...
...Well...
...You know how the story goes.
There was far more sentimentality etched
onto that hard drive than we knew, more
than we could have ever expected, and far
more valuable than we initially thought.
We recovered more than just the memory
of those we have now.
We recovered the memory of those
we have lost.
Good work, people.
I'm proud of all of you.
As of this posting, the +Faves count on the journal raffle is 377. I'll round that up to 400, meaning we'll have 8 winners (one for every fifty +Faves) getting 100 dA points!
Congrats to all who get picked!
