Flatting has become a pretty common topic around my clubs. I proposed a few ideas for how flats should be displayed. You need way more than just one image. You need a comparison like this, and you need to instill confidence that your image actually follows the necessary steps to actually be colorable.

Most important, certification that you have anti-aliasing turned off when placing your fills. Might as well start again from scratch if you make that mistake.

A lot of people just post a single image; the lines on top of the flats (like on the left side). But that doesn't say anything We don't know if the flats overlap properly, if they're aliased, if they're straight...with the lines plopped on top we don't know jack about the quality of the flats until we download it and open it in Photoshop.

And Photoshop. That's the other problem. People shouldn't upload .psd files, because not everybody uses Photoshop. They should upload both the lines and the flats as two separate individual images (.png format) so the artist can merge them together in the drawing program of their choice. So instead I upload a .rar with both the .psd and the two .pngs. Now you can take over the flats with any program of choice.

These are just a couple extra steps that take very little time, but can tremendously increase the chances of another utilizing your flats.
