Original Lines - [link]
By =Teruchan

High Resolution Version: [link]

Saw these lines uploaded earlier, and just had to give them a try. It's been a while since I've done a =Teruchan piece, and even longer since I've done an anthro. For this one, I wanted it to look very human, still, with fleshed out skintones instead of a fur cover. I also decided to try some fabric/texture design with the fabric.

The coloring style is more relaxed than I usually do, with the shadows hardly present and the highlights defining the volume and curvature of the surfaces. Accented by the background, I intended for this image to appear very clean, letting the tenets of pattern and color take precedence over lighting and texture.

If I started to count the number of anime-style pieces that looked the same I'd be dead before I finished. Fortunately, this isn't one of them. But it's not entirely without critique either. I couldn't separate my line-art from coloration critique, so here it is as one solid entry.

The shimmering eyes was definitely a fabulous touch to this piece, bringing it to life. But at the same time, it's a bit perplexing. While the eyes and the facial expression imply innocence and youth, the structure of the girl's body contradicts that notion. Fortunately, her breasts aren't over-sized, which I would immediately dispute as out-of-context, but her buttocks is simply too large and round and her legs too curvaceous to fit the rest of the image. Look at the sharpness of her collarbone and the slenderness and straightness of her arms which would suggest adolescence, and then the rest of her body radiates maturity. It's almost as though the farther down her frame you go, the more mature she becomes.

The hair is wonderfully illustrated and flowing, even though I personally think a shorter or shoulder-length hair style, or perhaps something cuter like having her hair up in twin-tails or something of the like would be not only more appropriate, but more appealing. The flesh coloring is too bland for my taste--more shadow and highlighting is required, such as blush to the face and also her bottom. Going just a bit heavier on the freckles would also help drive the "cuteness" point home.

The over-sized ears are fabulous. Without them, I think this picture wouldn't work nearly as well. That being said, I think the tail is too understated or small. Since maximum cuteness seems to be the focal point here, why not embellish the tail more and make it more pronounced?

Overall, a wonderful submission and a very nice collaborative effort with Teruchan.
