My entry to her coloring contest which can be found here: [link]

The story of the stalwart Valkyrie who trekked the mountains for sixty-five years in search of the fountain of youth. In the ruined cemetery of a lost temple long eroded to dust by the wind...the goal.

Simply amazing dude. I also partook of this contest, and will have to admit your techniques are vastly superior. Of note, I am truly impresses with the character focus and who your fused her into the environment so perfectly. Light reflections from the water on her spear arm, chest and legs I noted, as well as her reflection in the water and the background haze were perfectly applied. I would love to know how you managed the haze effect.

I aspire to hand create my own backgrounds and give them a 3d-ish feel, and include the character focus so it seems not so out of place. My entry for Jessica's contest Maiden of the Snow Boundary attempted to do this, but I got ganked on the pillars.

In any event, thanks for sharing both your talent and this excellent piece. Clearly best of show.

Thank you very much for such a long and thoughtful comment. I really appreciate it!

I guess if I could give some insight into how I handled the haze effect, I distinctly remember this image in particular of being one of particular difficulty considering the desired lighting scheme. It required some doing over a couple times, and frequent nitpicking. But every attempt, I learned what would go wrong, and how to get a little further to the final effect. It's not so much the "refining" step that takes a lot of time, but the "making several drafts of an idea" aspect. Once a draft starts getting to the right spot, then refining begins.

Again, thanks for the compliments!

Excellent work dude. I entered too, and I gotta say you blew me away and left me coughing in the dust. Flawless in every way.

I hope you win it. You deserve it.
