I saw this at Nathan's table at WonderCon the weekend before last. It's a very striking and eye catching piece. I think the shadows between her breasts got a little muddy/grayish, but that also might play well into the "sleeping death" she's in. Other than that, this is simply wonderful work! Awesome colors, David!
I don't want to jump to conclusions, but something tells me that this Snow White was asking for this...
Since it would be all too easy to comment on Snow White first, I'd really like to comment on the kind of sinister atmosphere you created with your colors. The cold-to-warm coloring of the floor makes it feel like the scene was part of an evil plot and makes it feel like there's something about to come in from a window. The shininess of the apple also manages to suggest an unavoidable allure towards it, even as a dangerous skull can be seen within it.
Regarding Snow White, even though the scene should probably be portrayed as a tragic one in a more traditional sense, the color scheme you worked with really helps in tilting the scale towards a more sensual vibe. Of course, she's also showing more skin in general, but the actual tones for the skin and the lips do a great job of pushing her attractiveness into the forefront. Less obvious, but also cool, is the look and texture of the actual corset, making it a more complex and elegant design.
The color in this is very good and rich. I especially like how you've drawn the wood grain and eased the colors from cool to warm behind her. It's really fun to look at.
However, her face seems very strange to me. While she looks very appealing when viewing the piece normally, if one tilts their head to look at her correctly, she looks like a chipmunk with a terrible overbite.
Also, in regards to the many comments I've seen discussing the gravity of breasts with/without a corset: If a woman is lying on her back, with or without a corset, her breasts would flatten slightly and move towards either side of her upper torso. The only thing a corset would accomplish would be further flattening the breasts and squishing them up towards the face. Beyond that, the ones featured here, while very nice/fun to look at, are defying gravity by how, well, perky they are.
the position of her boobs make it look like she's standing up. boobs do not look like that when girls lay down, if her boobs were small then it wouldn't mater so much, but because of their size, it looks like she's leaning against a wall funny and the pic was drawn at an odd angle.
I was thinking that also. Since they're so large, they would fall more towards the center of her chest rather than hang down like it is, wouldn't it? I'm thinking the artist left it like that because of the corset - if the little bit that it's holding down is extremely snug on her chest, they might be pulling down to make her look more endowed; or maybe she hasn't completely made contact with the floor, and they're in a state of suspension.
Either way, I think this is the longest that I've examined any boobs. I'm feeling kind of dirty. D:
This exquisitely-redered image is the product of stagggeringly inspired and inspiring creative intelligence. The embrace of shadows alone, transmutes old storytelling gold into an inexhaustible narrative fuel.
