To pass some time this morning, I brought out the wacom and decided to try coloring an image the way I used to, and then try to apply some of the techniques I learned at Red Giant. The idea of this image was to make something very soft, so it still looks a lot like what I made when working on lineart by El Guerro and Pablocomics. So, I went to my favorite and fastest-growing coloring source, and compliments of the ~color-me-club comes this image. [link]
While working on this one, my dad came over my shoulder and asked "so who drew that?" I wince at the screen, reading the top of the file, and slowly answer "Liquid-Kaka". Across the room, mom breaks down laughing.

This is very nice, you did a great job coloring it so stop complaining about not getting any criticism. The only thing I noticed is the eyes could use a bit more shading and depth to them, they seem a tad flat. Happy now? Anyway, very well done, I love the pink tones of her skin.
I forgot to mention in the description that I wasn't going so much for my own coloring style, but trying to hit that of another artist. The reason why is to not only expand my own ability, but to also make me more of an asset to a potential comic project coming up. The line producer asked me if I could color like that particular artist, and looking at the image my first reaction was "no way in Hades, that looks absolutely nothing like I usually do."
But instead of saying that, I somehow managed to say "sure, no problemo" instead. Great. My superego is not only a driving force in making big decisions, but it uses the word "problemo", too.
I am very happy, because now that you've mentioned the eyes being a little bit flat, I've opened up Photoshop and will have another draft up in this one's place within the next few minutes.
ok this is the best i've seen of all the colorings of this piece so far. the lighting is beautiful, and u kept the shading nice and dark, sumthing ppl tend to forget about doing. u gave her so much depth, and even her hair has texture and color. and the texturing of the clothing adds a great touch. thank u SOOOO much for coloring my lineart!!
Hey, thanks to you for supplying it. It was a very strong piece, and having nice consistent lines made this one a sinch to do. I usually spend a lot of time trying to manipulate the shading in a way that fixes errors in the linework without actually touching it. However, since this lineart was so functional, I was able to get straight into the nitty gritty without having to worry about compensating for another artist's mistakes.
