Started out as a request on a Livestream that...well kinda got out of control. Apparently, *curran loved the sketch so much, he threw a steaming gob of moneys at *bunnimation to tighten it up into a lineart.

Then, the lineart was passed on to me, and here's what came of it.

So, from humble sketch request to full-blown commission, it goes to show that so much crazy stuff can happen if just the right people happen to meet up in just the right Livestream session.

Little bit of background. This is the main character of the My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic fanfic being penned collaboratively between *curran and myself. I don't know if Bunni realized just how much she nailed with the extra stuff, but I found that with her detailing I was able to implement a lot of elements from the story into the design via the coloring pass. For instance, the gawdy horrifyingly discolored hoof-stitched books. They were perfectly fine in the lineart, looked great, but to capture Devon's involuntarily questionable fashion sense (not his fault), I was able to apply it here.

Also included, secondary character Glyph is possessing a mechanical hummingbird (in the story, he's a formless amalgam of paisley shapes that possesses pages, and can travel on an origami bird). The Magnethyst stone at the tip of his horn. And the quill pendant that defines his lineage. So lots of stuff that wasn't specified in the initial request, but apparently, Bunni somehow managed to come up with a design that catered to the inclusion of those narrative elements anyway. SO YAY, great work gal!
